These Braun coffee makers, brew an outstanding cup of coffee. Bought this coffee maker to replace one like it, that we broke. It even makes ordinary coffee seem like pricier blends.
We looked for another in the nearby city without success. The complaints that other reviewers have mentioned of leaking, weak and grinds in the coffee may be caused by simple carelessness.
The grinds are easily removed by holding the filter holder under running tap water while holding the valve open with a finger on the valve lever. Now the water goes outside the filter and grinds will go into the coffee and into the automatic shut off.
If the filter is not put in all the way than closing the filter draw will cause it to fold over. The coffee maker will leak from then on until the grinds are removed from the valve.
Our last KF580 just bit the dust. The replacement we tried didn't work out so I ordered one on Amazon.
This will cause a weak coffee with grinds.
Also, directions for clock/automatic settings is printed conveniently on the inside of water reservoir lid. The carafe works well, though if you poor too much at one time, it will spill a bit. A great combination of premium and budget coffee makers. It brews great coffee b/c it brews hot, and it is super simple to operate. But this is generally not a problem.
The negatives, it doesn't brew HOT coffee. The positives it is easy to program and clean. I am done with this one and need to find a coffeemaker that brews HOT COFFEE any suggestions. If luke warm coffee is your thing then this is the maker for you. Well I bought one of these maker and one was given to me. I have tried everything to make it work better thinking is was not clean enough but no it just doesn't brew hot enough Therefore it doesn't extract the best flavor from the coffee beans.
As far as I know, they are happy with it. Braun KF580-BK AromaDeluxe 10-Cup TimeControl Coffeemaker, BlackIt was a gift for Christmas. The service was excellent.
